Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis recall when they won a Test with the bat
It was against England at Lords in 1992 when Pakistan required 138 to beat the hosts
(Web Desk) – Pakistan fast-bowling legends Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis recalled a Test match from 1992 at Lords against England when the two came to rescue as the batting lineup collapsed early.
The target was just 138 to win, but the fragile batting lineup of green shirts had no clue of how to survive on the seaming track. However, both Wasim and Waqar contributed with an unbeaten 41-run stand to cling the victory.
Wasim Akram, who came at number 7, scored a terrific 45 while remaining aggressive throughout the innings. On the other end, Waqar gave full support with 20 runs to his name. Pakistan defeated English with two wickets to spare.
English bowlers were completely annoyed with how the two survived their attack. While remembering that day, Waqar praised Wasim saying “Down the memory lane #Lords 1992.."My favourite Test match".Me &The Legend @wasimakramlive won it with the Bat #SweetMemories.” “Those were the days Raqa @waqyounis99 We were fast, furious and fearless,” responded Wasim.
