DERBY (Dunya News) – India on Sunday won the toss and elected to bat first against Pakistan in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 clash.
By 31.0 overs, India were 100 up at the loss of four. Sandhu sent M. Raj, PG Raut and DB Sharma back to the pavilion whereas the first wicket at 3.3 was clinched by Diana Baig, that of Mandhana.
Later on by 42.0 overs India were 118 for six.
The match, which started at 02:30 PM (PST), is being played at Derby’s County Ground. Both teams have played two matches apiece in the championship so far. India have won both their encounters, whereas, the Green Shirts remained on losing side on both occasions.
India captain Mithali Raj said after winning the toss, "It’s the second game on this track and looks like an ideal wicket to bat first. Coming into the World Cup, we have had the ideal preparation, and the first two wins have been a good way to get the team together. The core players have been performing for the team. Hope the team keeps performing the way they have."
India made one change in their playing eleven as medium-pacer Mansi Joshi comes in for bowling allrounder Shikha Pandey.
Pakistan skipper Sana Mir said, "We would have wanted to bat as well. It’s a used wicket. So, batting first is likely to be easier. The two times we won against India was in the T20s. This is going to be the first one [in ODIs] if we can pull it off. We have come here to win and are looking forward to cause an upset. Bismah’s been one of our best batters, she’s one of the best fielders as well. But we have got Iram."
Pakistan have made two changes. Iram Javed has come in for the injured Bismah Maroof, while medium-pacer Diana Baig has replaced Kainat Imtiaz.
