Champions Trophy: Pakistan batting surrenders, as India win rain-hit contest by 124 runs
India scored 319 in the allotted 48 overs while batting first
BIRMINGHAM (Dunya News) – In the most awaited cricketing event of this year, Pakistan faced a humiliating defeat at the hands of India as the whole team was back in the pavilion after scoring 164 runs while chasing a revised target of 289 runs in 41 overs.
Pakistan won the toss and decided to bowl first on a good pitch that was unlikely to change much during the course of 100 overs. Match began at 02:30 PM (PST).

Pakistan Innings
With seven wickets down Pakistan tail-enders were playing half-heartedly as the required rate was skyrocketing with last few overs to go.
India were not bothering as it was single and twos that were not frustrating the Indians.
Meanwhile, Pakistan lost its eighth and ninth wickets in quick succession of time as Wahab didn’t come to bat due to his injury.
India won the match by 124 runs.
Pakistan were all out for 164 runs in pursuit of 289 runs chase.

Jadeja got some punishment as Shadab hit him for a maximum followed by a boundary in the twenty ninth over.
Sarfraz played a brilliant shot towards straight for four more however the excitement was short-lived as he handed over an easy catch to Dhoni who doesn’t miss many.
Pakistan were 152 for the loss of seven wickets after 30 overs.
Sarfaraz came to bat when his team was in real trouble.The skipper swept really well as he fetched a boundary in the process.
Pandya went for 8 runs in the next over.
Jadeja came to bowl the next over.
Hafeez also departed while giving away an easy catch to B Kumar at deep midwicket.
Shoaib Malik came to join Muhammad Hafeez as Pandya continued from the other end.
Pandya got some punishment as Shoaib Malik gave him some treatment in the shape of two back-to-back boundaries.
In the next over, it was first Muhammad Hafeez who thumped Jadeja for four more and later it was Shoaib Malik who hammered Jadeja for a huge six over straight boundary.
And suddenly some aggression in the innings!
The skipper decided to introduce Yadav once again.
Shoaib Malik got run out after scoring a quick innings of 15 runs. Pakistan lose its fourth wicket.
The skipper continued with Jadeja as Hafeez came down the wicket to hit him for a boundary towards leg stump.
Pandya at the other end was also bowling brilliantly as he was not offering any sort of width to the batsmen whatsoever.
Azhar Ali departed as he was caught just at the edge of the boundary while clearing the field.
Pakistan lose their third wicket as the score was 91 after 21 overs.
Pandya conceded a boundary of the last ball as Azhar Ali hammered one away towards half stump for four more.
The skipper opted to bring Jadeja to the attack as he bowled rather a good over while not allowing Pakistani batsmen to free their arms.
Pandya continued from the other end as both Azhar Ali and Muhammad Hafeez were not taking any risk for reasons unknown.
Pakistan were 82 for the loss of two wickets after 18 overs.
Hafeez came to join Azhar Ali as the equation was getting complicated with the passage of every single over.
Pandya was also introduced to the attack in 14th over as Kumar dropped rather an easy catch while running in from long-on.
Yadav came to bowl the 15th over and bowled with pace and aggression as only 3 runs came of his over.
Pakistan were 67 for the loss two wickets after 15 overs.

Bumrah came strongly after conceding a boundary of the first ball as no run came of the next five balls.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled yet another good as he bowled a maiden over.

Hasan Ali went for a boundary and a six in the second last over.
Hardik Pandya’s consecutive sixes of the first three balls and a boundary by Virat Kohli of the last ball resulted in 23 runs coming of the last over.
India conclude their innings at 319 for the loss of three wickets in the alloted 48 overs.
Hasan Ali proved to be really expensive in 46th over as he went away for two boundaries and a huge six while conceding 21 runs.
Wahab also went for two boundaries and a maximum in the next over as Yuvraj completed his fifty of 30 balls.
The left arm pacer also left the ball as he got retired hurt.
India were 285 for the loss of two wickets after 46 overs.
Amir was retired hurt as he left the field and was replaced by Wahab Riaz.
Amir was brought to the attack by skipper. A slow ball from Amir was picked up by Youvraj as he swatted it away to the left of midwicket for four more.

Wahab was introduced again to the attack. Rohit played a glorious drive for four more followed by a beautifully played pull short for six.

The play resumed again at Edgbaston however has been restricted to 48 overs a side.
Kohli played a brilliant shot of Muhammad Amir towards backward point for four more.
India were going good and great at the position as both the batsmwn seemed to be in good form.
Just when the first ball of 34th over was bowled, rain intercepted the play once again.

Kohli came to bat as both the players were rotating the strike at regular intervals with not that much damage done.
Rohit was in mood to play a big innings today as the skipper decided to introduce Amir in the thirtieth over.
Amir bowled a brilliant over as just one run came of it.

India lost their first wicket as Dhawan in an effort to clear the boundary was caught just at the edge of the boundary.
Dhawan was caught Azhar Ali after scoring 68 runs.

Rohit Sharma reached to his fifty in style as he hit one down the ground towards midwicket for a huge six of Shadab’s bowling.

Hasan Ali wasn’t providing any width to the Indian batsmen as he conceded just four runs in thirteenth over.

Hasan Ali started to bowl the eleventh over as he bowled a no ball as the free hit was easily put away by Rohit Sharma towards the boundary for four more. India reached their fifty in 10.4 overs.

The skipper opted to pursue with Imad as he bowled with good line without providing any sort of width to the batsmen henceforth conceding just 4 runs in his second over.
The first boundary of the Indian innings came in Muhammad Amir’s over as Rohit placed it away brilliantly towards the fence for four more.
In the very next over, Rohit yet again took the charge as he punched a ball from Imad Wasim firmly towards cover for another boundary.
