Summary Haris Sohail said it is a huge game against India, a really big game, but it is just a game.
EDGBASTON (Web Desk) – Arch-rivals Pakistan and India are to lock horns with each other on June 4 at Birmingham’s Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Champions Trophy clash, and Pakistan batsman Haris Sohail insists that his team has to forget about the opposition to overcome extra pressure.
Haris Sohail, who is confident of Pakistan’s chances against India, urged his teammates to not get carried away by the hype of the rivalry, and take it just like a game.
After rain washed out Pakistan’s second warm-up match against Australia on Monday, the focus of Green Shirts has now shifted to taking on India on Sunday in their opening pool encounter at the same venue.
The 28-year-old, who replaced Umar Akmal in the squad, is confident that Pakistan will have adjusted to the weather conditions by Sunday, having spent a fortnight on English soil. “We have had good preparation, we have had a good couple of days. It is a huge game against India, a really big game. But it is just a game.
“We are preparing ourselves for all of the hard matches. Our strength is our bowling and fielding and we are working on all these aspects of our game. It is difficult for us but we have had good preparation to adapt to English conditions but we have been here for 10 days before our first game and we have five days more before our first game.”
