Summary Jonny Bairstow scored a well-deserved half century

LONDON (Dunya News) – At the birthplace of cricket, it was the English side that had to face a humiliation in the early overs of the match as they were reduced to 20 for 6 after 30 deliveries  and henceforth becoming the first time in the history of ODIs to have lost six wickets in the first five overs.

England were bowled out for 153 as Kagiso Rababa led the bowling side with figures of four for 39 in nine overs. Proper support was also provided by Wayne Parnell who took three for 43 in eight while left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj took three for 25.

From the English side, Jonny Bairstow scored a well-deserved half century and thus saved his side from a complete humiliation at the birthplace of cricket. 

In reply, the South African batting line seemed to be in no trouble as they easily chased the target in 28.5 overs with seven wickets to spare. The brilliant Amla scored yet another half century as his side registered a compulsory win at Lord’s.
