Summary Islamabad United Head Coach says the suspension of players was like being through hell
DUBAI: (Web Desk) – Former Australian batsman and Islamabad United Head Coach in Pakistan Super League (PSL) Dean Jones has on Sunday said that his team has been through hell after the suspension of two players due to fixing scandal.
Khalid Latif and Sharjeel Khan had on Friday been suspended by PSL after reports arrived of their conduct during the tournament. Ever since the scandal, the league has been in the news, though for the wrong reasons of course. There were other players as well who were inquired but no further suspensions were imposed.
Dean Jones said that his team had been through hell ‘emotionally and physically’ due to the scandal. He said that it was a tough time for everyone including himself, Wasim Akram and the other members of the team.
However, Deano was hopeful of a resurrection as he believed that the team still had time to regroup and bring the best out of themselves amid negative publicity. Islamabad United are going to play their next game in Sharjah.
It is pertinent to mention here that the team was linked with a move to bring in Salman Butt, the former Pakistan captain who had been suspended from cricket for five years in another spot-fixing scandal in 2010. Hassan Cheema, the United manager, has ‘nipped the rumours in the bud’ though.
Erm... Since I m gonna be finalizing the replacements for the suspended players, lemme just nip it in the bud: WE AREN T GETTING SALMAN BUTT
