As Morgan hits an impressive half-century, the acceleration in the innings was also witnessed as he took 19 runs of Shoaib Malik’s over and somehow made it almost easy for Zalmis to reach the target. Eion Morgan was the difference between the two sides as he carried on the innings with style, passion and class. He played shots all around the wicket and also rotated strike at crucial times of innings. Eoin Morgan scored the winning shot as Peshawar Zalmi chased the required target by the loss of 3 wickets.

Well Played Eoin Morgan and Well Played Peshawar Zalmi!

The coolest thing about Morgan is that he put punishes bad deliveries in middle of rotating the strike and that what makes him a specialist T20 batsman. Haris on the other hand, was also able to provide the kind of support he needed at the other end owing to his conventional style of batting. The situation of the match suites the batting style of both these batsmen. Eoin Morgan hit a massive six in the 15th over in order to make it a bit easy for the Zalmis to reach the target. Morgan completes his fifty in 43 balls.

Meanwhile, Malan also hit two boundaries in Shoaib Malik’s over and hence accelerated the innings at a decent pace. Imad Wasim was able to provide the crucial breakthrough in 9th over when he removed David Malan while the batsman was trying to clear the field and fell into hands of Babar Azam. At half-way stage, Pehawar zalmi were 51 for three as their hitters were yet to come at the crease.

When the pitch is a bit supportive, Amir could be the worst of nightmares for the batsman. The very first over from the finest bowler in world cricket was a beauty as he removed Muhammad Hafeez of the fourth ball while bowling a maiden over. Sohail Khan continued from the other end and was able to take the wicket of Kamran Akmal who was caught by Imad Wasim. Eoin Morgan took charge as he hit four boundaries in two overs. After 5 overs, Zalmis were comparatively in a better position to Karachi Kings as they manage to score 27 runs for the lost of 2 wickets.

Karachi Kings Innings

Over 20  I Score 118/7  I  Kieron Pollard 27*, Muhammad Amir 3*

The rebuilding partnership was put to an end in the sixteenth over when Muhammad Asghar provide the breakthrough that Zalmis were looking forward to. Ravi Bopara got out as he handed an easy peasy catch to Chris Jordan. However, the introduction of Pollard brought the much-needed aggression to the innings as he lofted one straight for six in Asghar’s over. Moreover, Shoaib also hit a massive six of the last ball of the same over.

As Shoaib Malik’s innings accelerated, Sammy introduced Wahab to the attack and who proved the skipper right by taking the crucial wicket of Shoaib Malik on the first ball of the over. Meanwhile, the presence of his wife Sania Mirza also grabbed several eye-brows during the match

Malik was caught behind the wicket after scoring 44 runs of 36 balls. Wahab also removed his national team mate Imad Wasim who was caught by Sammy in the process of unsuccessful attempt to clear the fence. Meanwhile, Pollard aggressive innings provided a glimmer of hope to Karachi as he hammered one for six of the bowling of Chris Jordan in the penultimate over. The power hitter from the Caribbean also managed to take 10 runs of the last over bowled by Wahab.

It seems like Ravi Bopara and Shoiab Malik were rebuilding the innings after the early quick wickets. Both the seasoned players rotated the strike at regular interval and also hit a few boundaries in an effort to put a decent total on the board. The required rate below 5 runs per over could be a point of concern for the Kings if they pursue with the same pace in the last 5 overs which apparently is not more likely to happen with six wickets in hand.

Over 10  I  Score 48/4  I  Ravi Bopara 21*, Shoaib Malik 18*

Ravi Bopara and Shoiab Malik carried the innings further after the catastrophic first five overs as they move on steadily. Meanwhile, Peshawar dominance in the match was further stamped by fine bowling from their bowling.

The skipper knows the art of rotating his bowlers when the pressure is on!

At the half-way mark, Zalmis would be pretty pleased with their effort as Karachi Kings were 48 for the lost of four wickets.

Over 5  I  Score 15/4  I  Ravi Bopara 3*, Shoaib Malik 4*

The start of the proceedings were not that good for Karachi Kings as they suffered a vital blow in the shape of Shahzaib Hasan going to the pavilion on the third ball of the very first over of the match. Muhammad Hafeez took the crucial wicket. On third ball of the second over, the impressive Babar Azam got out after scoring just one run.

The stunner taken by skipper Darren Sammy and his own style of celebrations were the showstoppers for the night. The massive blow came in third over when Karachi’s captain the great Sangakara was caught by Muhammad Hafeez of the bowling of Chris Jordan. Karachi’s run rate fail to accelerate after the crucial wickets falling one after another. The hopes of Karachi Kings were thwarted to ground when Chris Gayle wasn’t been able to read the spin and trapped plumbed in front of the wicket of the bowling of Hafeez. The dramatic start was something out of the world at Dubai Sports City!
