Summary Hanif Mohammad was suffering from lung cancer and was put on ventilator.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Former Test cricketer Hanif Mohammad has passed away on Thursday.

Earlier today, he had survived after losing heart beat for six minutes at Aga Khan Hospital, son Shoaib Mohamamd confirmed.

According to family sources, Hanif Mohammad’s heart stopped working for six minutes after which the doctors successfully restored his heart beat.

The 81-year-old cricketer was reported dead when his heart beat was not showing on the monitor but later he returned to life and was shifted to ventilator again.

Hanif Mohammad is suffering from lung cancer and had a surgery in 2013. He was shifted to Aga Khan Hospital three weeks ago due to respiratory complications.

Hanif Mohammad was born on December 21, 1934 in Junagarh. He had played 55 Test matches with a fine average of 43.98.

The right-hand batsman was termed as ‘little master’ due his outstanding performance in cricket and was also regarded as most focused batsman in the whole world.

He still holds record for highest score in an innings by a Pakistani batsman while he was also named as Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1968.
