BIRMINGHAM (Web Desk) – England batted responsibly on day four of the third Test against Pakistan being played at Edgbaston as the hosts were able to stretch their lead to 311 runs at stumps after making a total of 414 runs at the loss of five wickets in the second innings, reported Dunya News.

Skipper Alastair Cook and his opening partner Alex Hales were caught out early at the start of the day’s play. Joe Root batted responsibly along with James Vince as both middle-order batsmen continued to increase England’s lead.

Pakistani players were lackluster in the field as a number of important catches were dropped that cost the Men in Green quite a lot. Yasir Shah was able to grab the crucial wicket of Root whereas Amir was able to dismiss Vince.

Jonny Bairstow played an unbeaten knock of 82 runs as he and Moeen Ali, who was also not out at 60 runs, stretched the lead for England to 311 runs at stumps.

Thus far, Mohammad Amir and Yasir Shah have two wickets to their names each whereas Sohail Khan has picked the wicket of one English batsman in the second innings.
