United post 9-wicket victory over Kings in second playoff

(Web Desk) - Second playoff of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) was played between Islamabad United and Karachi Kings at the Dubai Sports City (DSC). Misbah-ul-Haq, skipper of United decided to bowl first against the Kings, led by Ravi Bopara.

Mohammad Sami was the star performer for United in the first innings as he picked 5 wickets giving away only 8 runs. A commendable collective effort from the bowling side restricted Karachi Kings to only 111 runs.

Islamabad United s batsmen played with equal confidence as Haddin and Smith scored fifties posting a comfortable 9-wicket win over Kings, which meant that the later were knocked out of the tournament.

United now play against Peshawar Zalmi in the third and final playoff on Sunday; the winner of the match will play the final of the first edition of PSL against Quetta Gladiators.

Previously, Quetta Gladiators defeated Peshawar Zalmi in the first playoff the PSL after a thrilling competition by 1 run.

Overs 3.3: CAUGHT! Sohail Khan strikes! Excellent catch from the fielder. Sharjeel hit it towards the leg side and the fielder jumped in the air and was able to cling it. First blow to the United. They are 18 for 1

Overs 3.1: Bowled down the legside from Sohail and Sharjeel stands on his toes and plays it towards fine-leg. No fielder and it goes for FOUR! United on top. 18 without loss.

Overs 2.2: Through the offside it goes for FOUR runs! Sharjeel stands tall and hits this short one from Amir for a boundary. United 13/0

Overs 19.6: Last ball... and Sohail skies this one from Russell and ends up being caught by Latif near the leg side bound. The Kings hapless innings comes to a closure. They scored only 111 runs within their 20 overs with the loss of 9 wickets. Spectacular bowling from the United, equipped with equally brilliant fielding.

Overs 11.1: 50 is up for the Kings! They are struggling to score runs as of now. Boundaries have dried up. They are 51/4

Overs 9.6: Played toward the leg side by skipper Ravi Bopara and a single taken. Full marks to United s bowling till now. Kings creeping as innings is half gone. They are only 45-4
