Summary British newspaper claims that ICC is investigating the Sharjah ODI between Pakistan and England

LONDON: (Dunya News) – International Cricket Council (ICC) has on Friday started the investigations regarding Sharjah One-Day International (ODI) between Pakistan and England played on November 17, 2015, reported Dunya News.

According to British newspaper Dailymail, ICC’s Anti-Corruption Unit has started investigations regarding the third ODI between Pakistan and England (Sharjah). The paper claims that former England captain Michael Vaughan had alleged Pakistani team of match-fixing on Twitter after which the ICC came into action.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shehryar Khan has said that cricket’s sanctity has been affected by Michael Vaughan’s allegations and said that PCB will raise the issue on ICC’s forum.

Pakistan-England series have been marred with controversies in the past as well and the recent allegations by English media and former player are just a new addition to the old curry.

Although Michael Vaughan had removed his tweets as he received severe criticism over his remarks yet the screenshots made available to Dunya News show what exactly the former England captain had said in his tweets.

However, former Pakistan captain, and renowned commentator, Ramiz Raja slammed Vaughan s  anti-Pakistan  comments as a  cheap attempt at publicity .

“Vaughan’s comments are highly irresponsible and I think he is just looking for cheap publicity to stay relevant on social media”, Raja had said.
