Summary Pakistan, leading the series 1-0, made 234 in their first innings

SHARJAH (AFP) - Pakistan were 146-3 at close on the third day of the third Test, leading England by 74 runs in Sharjah on Tuesday.

Opener Mohammad Hafeez was unbeaten on 97 and with him nightwatchman Rahat Ali was yet to get off the mark after England gained a 72-run lead by scoring 306 in their first innings.

Pakistan, leading the series 1-0, made 234 in their first innings.

England were bowled out in their first innings for 306 on the third day of the third and final Test against Pakistan, gaining a lead of 72 runs.

England lost Samit Patel for 42 after they resumed after lunch on 285-7 at Sharjah stadium.

For Pakistan, off-spinner Shoaib Malik returned career-best figures of 4-33 while leg-spinner Yasir Shah finished with 3-99.

Pakistan lead the three-match series 1-0.
