KARACHI (Dunya News) – Case filed against Pakistan cricket team’s former Test captain, has been disposed of as petitioner retracted the plea in the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday.

A plea filed in the SHC after World Cup 2015 tangled chief selector, Khan in a casino scandal. Pakistan’s dismal performance in the early matches of the World Cup added to the flak after Khan was snapped in a casino.

The plea was moved by Rana Faizul Hassan. Khan was snapped in New Zealand allegedly gambling in a casino that sparked controversy regarding poor performance of the team. He was alleged of not focusing on matches.

In March, after Khan returned to country he was scheduled to attend a meeting with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman to take him in confidence and explain his side. However, team manager Naveed Akram Cheema was asked to look into the scandal.

Pakistan was pinned down by West Indies in its first WC 2015 match with worst ever performance. The team was defeated by 150 margin which is the worst for Pakistan in WC. The board and other officials related were questioned about their decision regarding sending Khan as chief selector.


The outrage in the cricket-loving country went so high that fans had held a mock funeral for the team.

It should be mentioned here that Khan’s controversy of visiting casino before Pakistan’s severe loss to West Indies was not the only major setback in the last WC. Off-spinner, Saeed Ajmal was banned for his action ahead of the tournament however, his services were restored later on but he chose not to play due to lack of practice.
