GALLE, Sri Lanka (AFP) - Sri Lanka were 178 for three in their first innings at stumps on the scheduled second day of the rain-hit first Test against Pakistan in Galle on Thursday.

Opener Kaushal Silva remained unbeaten on 80 and Kumar Sangakkara made 50, the pair sharing a second wicket stand of 112 runs after Pakistan s captain Misbah-ul Haq won the toss and elected to field.

The entire first day s play was washed out on Wednesday and the second day produced just 64 overs after the start was delayed by two hours due to a wet outfield.
