Summary PCB has decided to name the Asian Bradman for the presidency of ICC as Najam Sethi withdrew
LAHORE: (Dunya News, Web Desk) – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has on Tuesday decided to name Zaheer Abbas, the Asian Baradman, for the presidency of International Cricket Council (ICC) since former Chairman PCB Najam Sethi has withdrawn his name, reported Dunya News.
Earlier, Majid Khan was also being considered for the presidency of the ICC but Zaheer Abbas was finally agreed upon.
Zaheer was born on July 24, 1947, in Sialkot and is considered as one of the best batsmen the game has ever produced. In 78 Tests that he played for Pakistan, Zaheer scored 5062 runs at an average of 44.79 and scored 2572 runs in just 62 One-Day International (ODI) games at a strike rate of 84.80, which is striking considering the era he played in.
Zaheer Abbas was among the few professional players who used to have their glasses on while batting. In 1982-83, he became the first batsman to score 3 consecutive centuries in ODIs. He was also among the few batsmen to have scored a century of centuries in first class matches.
