Summary Former Pakistan captain said he would confirm his availability only after renewal of passport

LAHORE: (Daily Dunya) – International Cricket Council (ICC) has on Tuesday asked former Pakistan captain Salman Butt, banned from cricket after being convicted for spot-fixing, if he would be able to appear before the anti-corruption unit in spot-fixing case. Salman Butt has said that he would inform ICC about his availability only after renewal of his passport and availing United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) visa, reported Daily Dunya.

On the other hand, Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Shehryar Khan is still confused about supporting lifting of the ban on Salman Butt. However, first class teams have started to contact Salman Butt as ban on his cricket nears. ICC Anti-Corruption Unit had banned Salman Butt from playing domestic cricket for 5 years and international cricket for 10 years in 2010.

Salman Butt has said that he has applied for renewal of his passport and he would leave for Dubai if everything went fine but a delay was also on the cards.

Shehryar Khan has said that he was also informed by Salman Butt. “He should go because he wouldn’t be able to play domestic cricket without ICC’s permission”, he said. However, when asked whether PCB would support Salman Butt or not, Shehryar Khan said laughing that no decision had yet been made about it.
