Summary Sarfraz will also be the Vice Captain of ODI and T20 sides, says Shehryar Khan
LAHORE: (Web Desk, Dunya News) - Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Shehryar Khan has on Monday announced that Azhar Ali will be the captain of Pakistan s One-Day International (ODI) side while Sarfraz Ahmed will be the new Vice Captain. He said that Sarfraz will also vice captain the Twenty-20 sides of Pakistan, Dunya News reported.
Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Chairman PCB said that Azhar Ali has an excellent ODI record. He told that Shahid Afridi will continue to captain the T20 side while Misbahul Haq has been retained as the Test captain. He said that the Chairman PCB was responsible for deciding about the captain, according to PCB s constitution. "I consulted former and senior players before arriving at the decision", he said.
Shehryar Khan said that Azhar Ali was made the captain because of his excellent conduct and performance. He said that he wanted to see unity and discipline in the side. "Players like Shahid Afridi and Misbah are role models for the youngsters", he said. He congratulated both the players on their retirement.
"Younis Khan hasn t yet retired and we are very happy about that", said Shehryar. He said that Saleem Jaffer, Kabeer Khan and Azhar Khan will be members of the Selection Committee while Haroon Rasheed will be the new Chief Selector. He said that Moin Khan had no role in Pakistan team anymore.
