AUCKLAND (AFP) - The World Cup semi-final between South Africa and New Zealand on Tuesday was reduced to 43-overs a side, officials said after rain stopped play for nearly two hours in Auckland.

The players were forced from the field with South Africa 216-3 after 38 overs. Faf du Plessis was not out 82 with skipper AB de Villiers on 60.

Play was scheduled to resume at 6:45pm (0545GMT) with further showers forecast.
