Summary Sangakkara and Jayawardene are considered the pillars of Sri Lankan cricket.

LAHORE (Web Desk) – The twitter world on Wednesday has saluted Sri Lankan veteran batsmen Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene using #thankyouSangakkara and #thankyoujayawardene hashtags.

Sangakkara and Jayawardene are considered the pillars of Sri Lankan cricket. Both batsmen have been serving Sri Lanka for a long time. Sangakkara finishes with 14234 runs in 404 ODIs, including 25 tons and 93 half centuries. Jayawardene has played 448 matches in his successful career, scored 12650 runs with the help of 19 centuries and 77 fifties.

The duo had announced their retirement from ODI cricket before start of the World Cup 2015. Sri Lanka cleared the first phase of tournament on a very good note as various players were in tremendous touch. War horse Kumar Sangakkara played very helpful hand in the progress of national team as he scored four centuries on the trot.

Quarter-final against South Africa has proved as the last station for Sri Lankan cricket team s World Cup 2015 campaign and for this duo s cricketing career. Unfortunately Sri Lanka lost the game very cheaply. Sangakkara has played very fighting innings but no other batsmen helped him from other end.
