LAHORE (Web Desk) – Umar Akmal has become a part of jokes on twitter since he wore wicket-keeping gloves in World Cup 2015. Umar Amal, 24, is considered as one of the best fielders among Pakistani cricket squad yet whenever he is placed behind the wickets he becomes the butt of all jokes, thanks to his nasty wicket-keeping.

It had started from the first match of the tournament when national team management decided to replace specialist gloveman Sarfaraz Ahmed with amateur Umar Akmal.

Akmal dropped Virat Kohli on 76 who later hammered Pakistan in the team s very first game of the tournament. He also dropped two crucial catches in the second game which was played against West Indies. Although he took five catches in the match against Zimbabwe, which was record performance by a Pakistani wicket-keeper in cricket world cup yet he dropped two catches in that match too.

Umar Akmal followed his elder brother’s tradition of dropping catches at crucial stages of the match. In World Cup 2011, Kamran Akmal dropped 2 catches of Ross Taylor and later Pakistan paid the price while Umar Akmal has been doing the same in World Cup 2015 as he dropped 5 catches including 4 off Shahid Afridi’s bowling.
