MELBOURNE (AFP) - Sri Lanka s Kumar Sangakkara celebrated his feat of becoming only the fourth player to appear in 400 one-day internationals by compiling a half-century in the World Cup match against Bangladesh on Thursday.
Sangakkara was unbeatean on 52 as Sri Lanka reached 210-1 in the 39th over after electing to bat at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The 37-year-old joins two Sri Lankans -- Sanath Jayasuriya (445) and current team-mate Mahela Jayawardene (444) -- in a list headed by Sachin Tendulkar of India, who played 463 ODI matches.
Sangakkara, the prolific left-handed batsman and wicketkeeper who made his debut in 2000, is due to retire from one-day cricket, along with Jayawardene, after the World Cup.
