Summary Despite being under pressure after Pakistan's 454, Aussies scored 113 runs off just 31 overs
DUBAI (Web Desk, AFP) - DUBAI: (Web Desk) – Aussies showed no signs of bogging down after Pakistan scored 454 runs courtesy tons by Younis Khan and Sarfaraz Ahmad. Without wasting any time after coming out to bat on the second day of the Dubai Test, Rogers and Warner started hitting boundaries and within one session only, the Kangaroos had scored 113 runs.
While both the openers batted brilliantly and took no undue risks during their batting, some exceptional bowling by Zulfiqar Babar finally produced an outside edge off Rogers’ bat that went to Younis Khan, standing in the first slip, who dropped this sitter. This was the only chance created by Pakistan throughout the session except for a very close shout off Hafeez’s bowling in the fourth over that was turned down by the umpire. Although the ball was clipping the leg stump only marginally, the umpire got it completely wrong as he thought it was hitting his bat while the replay showed no such thing.
Australia are still trailing by 331 runs in this first test yet the way Warner (75) and Rogers (31) are batting, they have already been provided with an excellent start in their pursuit of Pakistan’s 454 runs. Pakistan has tried all of its 5 bowlers in the so far bowled 31 overs and none was able to send any of the batsmen back to the pavilion. Hafeez has bowled the most number of overs (10) and has conceded only 18 runs due to his super smart wicket-to-wicket bowling.
