Summary Haris, Babar's tons win Pakistan A its first victory against an international side in 14 years

SHARJAH: (Dunya News) – Pakistan A got its first victory against any international side today (Saturday) as it defeated the Australian side in Sharjah in a tour match with the help of Haris Sohail and Babar Azam’s centuries. Pakistan A had scored 305 runs for the loss of 8 wickets, responding to which Australia had scored 275 runs for the loss of 8 wickets and declared their innings. Pakistan A scored 306 runs in the second innings for the loss of 3 wickets and declared. Australia scored only 185 in pursuit of the 337 runs target.

Shan Masood took almost a decade for his 19 during the first innings as he faced 97 balls and wasn’t able to hit any boundary, however, he had seen the new ball off by then. Ahmed Shehzad took almost same number of balls for his 59. He faced 95 balls. Israrullah was out first ball LBW by Lyon but Haris Sohail and Babar Azam then took on and remained undefeated till the declaration. Haris scored 103 off 172 balls with the help of 9 boundaries and 3 sixes while Babar Azam hit equal number of boundaries and sixes for his 115 off 178 balls.

Aussies came on to bat with 337 runs target to chase on the board but Rogers (3) and Clarke (5) left so early that it seemed almost impossible from there on. Maxwell (18), Marsh (35) and Siddle (41) showed some resistance along with the opener Hughes (65) but Raza Hasan’s spin and Talha’s pace was just too good for the Aussies. Both the bowlers took 3 wickets each to restrict Australia to 185.

Pakistan A won the match by 150 runs to record their first victory against an international side in last 14 years.
