Summary Peshawar Panthers beat Lahore Lions by 7 wickets to win National T20 title.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – A half century by Iftikhar Ahmad guided Peshawar Panthers to lift the National Twenty20 crown in the final played at the National Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Lahore Lions managed 133 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Imam-ul-Haq was the top scorer for Lions with an unbeaten knock of 52 runs while Abid Ali (22) and Azhar Ali (16) were other main contributors.
Taj Ali remained most successful bowler for Peshawar Panthers claiming three wickets and was ably supported by Imran Khan who grabbed two wickets.
In reply, Peshawar Panthers achieved the target for the loss of only three wickets with four balls to spare. Iftikhar Ahmed played a beautiful knock of 50 runs and remained not out while Rafatullah Mohmand (26), Israrullah (20) and Adil Amin (33) also batted well.
Mohammad Irfan claimed two wickets for Lahore Lions while Qaiser Ashraf chipped in with one wicket. Iftikhar Ahmed and Taj Wali of Peshawar Panthers were declared best players of the match.
