Summary Sethi was named for contempt of court during appeal hearing against Zaka Ashraf's reinstatement.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) -- Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday sought answers from Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Najam Sethi and Inter-Provincial Coordination Secretary over contempt of court petition. Notices have also been issued to six members of management committee. Court directed not to take action against anyone including PCB suspended workers.
A three-member bench presided by Justice Anwar Zaheer heard the petition against reinstatement of former PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf. During the hearing, a petition was filed against Najam Sethi accusing him of contempt of court by saying that Chairman PCB had hid many important facts and documents from the court.
Advocate Imtiaz Siddique said, Zaka Ashraf took charge after the Islamabad High Court order and press release was also issued but it was hid from the court.
Justice Anwar Zaheer asked them to submit documents, saying that the apex court already have an appeal against the Islamabad High Court’s ruling. The court said that it will be asserted how relevant thos documents are to the Islamabad High Court’s ruling.
Court summoned answer from Najam Sethi, Inter-Provincial Coordination Secretary and six members of the management committee over contempt of court.
The court allowed Zaka Ashraf to become party to the petition against his reinstatement.
The court adjourned the hearing, upon request of defense councils, for two weeks and ordered not to take any action against the suspended workers.
Court also issued notices to respondents upon the appeals of 24 suspended workers.
