Summary The PCB chairman vows to adopt all possible measures for the improvement of cricket in Pakistan.
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Zaka Ashraf on Monday once again took charge as Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday.
Talking to newsmen at Gaddafi Stadium, Zaka thanked the independent judiciary for doing justice with him. He asked all the concerned authorities to abide by the court orders.
Zaka Asharf said that he never made any decision against the interest of the PCB and never thought of insulting anyone. He said that those who wanted to grip the PCB with lies and deceptions have got reply after the court decision.
Responding to a question, Zaka Ashraf said the PCB will follow the right decision of the Sethi administration; however, the wrong decisions of the previous chairman would be suspended. He said the PCB would consider and implement if former chairman Najam Sethi has good suggestions.
Responding to another question regarding ‘Big Three’ issue, the PCB chief said it was not favourable in the interest of domestic as well as international cricket that’s why he said he opposed it.
Ashraf added that Najam Sethi signed agreement regarding Big Three, however, he would review the decision.
On the other hand, Pakistan s suspended cricket chief Najam Sethi vowed on Sunday to appeal against a court judgment which reinstated his rival in the latest round of musical chairs in the game s management.
It is pertinent to mention here that Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Saturday restored Zaka Ashraf as chief of the Pakistan Cricket board for third time.
The court not only ordered PCB to reinstate Zaka Ashraf as the chairman, but also reinstated 18 members who worked alongside Zaka Ashraf on their respective positions. This is the third time in few months that Zaka Ashraf has been called back as the PCB chairman.
The IHC decision came after a petition challenging Ashraf s sacking in February by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the patron of the PCB, who appointed an 11-strong interim committee led by Najam Sethi to run the board.
The IHC ruling on Saturday also declared invalid the notification issued on February 10 after the prime minister appointed the interim committee to run the affairs of the board.
On January 15, IHC restored Zaka Ashraf as chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
A two-member bench comprising Justice Riaz Ahmed and Justice Noorul Haq of Islamabad High Court issued verdict over the intra-court appeal filed by Zaka Ashraf.
Earlier, Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqi ordered to sack Ashraf from his post on June 24, 2013.
On February 10, PCB’s management committee appointed Najam Sethi as chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board.
Sethi’s appointment came after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif acting as patron-in-chief approved an amendment to the PCB constitution paving the way for the governing board to be dissolved and Ashraf being sacked.
