Summary Corey Anderson hit the fastest century in ODI history.

QUEENSTOWN, New Zealand (AFP) - New Zealand powered to 283-4 after being put in to bat in the third one-day international against the West Indies in a match reduced to 21 overs a side because of rain Wednesday.

Corey Anderson hit the fastest century in ODI history, taking just 36 balls to reach three figures on his way to an unbeaten 131.

The previous record of 37 balls to reach 100 was set by Pakistan's Shahid Afridi against Sri Lanka in 1996.

Jesse Ryder scored 104 while Jason Holder took two for 48 for the West Indies.

The West Indies are without Darren Sammy, who suffered a hamstring injury during the warm-up, and Darren Bravo, who has returned home for personal reasons. They have been replaced by Chadwick Walton and Nikita Miller.

New Zealand brought in paceman Adam Milne at the expense of batsman Kane Williamson.

The West Indies lead the five-match series 1-0 after winning the first game in Auckland by two wickets. The second game, in Napier, was abandoned because of rain.
