Summary West Indies were 159-5 at lunch on the third day of first Test against New Zealand.

DUNEDIN (AP) - Tim Southee captured three wickets before lunch on the third day of the first cricket test Thursday, leaving the West Indies 159-5 in reply to New Zealand s imposing first innings of 609-9 declared.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul surpassed tests 11,000 runs as he reached 62 not out by the break with Dinesh Ramdin on 11.

After the West Indies resumed at 67-2, Marlon Samuels was on 14 when given out lbw to Boult in only the third over of the day, but successfully challenged the ruling under the decision review system.

Darren Bravo was out in the next over, caught by Brendon McCullum at gully for 40 when the West Indies were 70. Samuels (14) and Narsingh Deonarine (15) then fell to catches at first slip by Ross Taylor off Southee.
