ADELAIDE (AP) -  Australia captain Michael Clarke missed training Tuesday after straining his right ankle in a practice session but is still expected to play in this week's second Ashes test against England.

Clarke rolled his right ankle in a warm-up at Adelaide Oval on Monday and missed Tuesday's session after waking up with soreness.

Cricket Australia tweeted: "Michael Clarke's ankle is a bit stiff and sore but he'll be OK for the test."

CA said that Clarke, who missed Australia's recent one-day tour of India with a recurring back injury, is expected to train Wednesday and return for the second test beginning Thursday.

Clarke scored a century in Australia's 381-run win in the opening Ashes test at Brisbane.
