NEW DELHI (AP) - Batsman Virat Kohli will lead a young India team on a limited-overs tour of Zimbabwe this month.

Kohli is captain of the team currently playing in a tri-series in the Caribbean in the absence of regular skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who went home after the first match due to a hamstring injury.

The India selectors decided to rest offspinner Ravichandran Ashwin and pace bowlers Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar. Opener Murali Vijay was also not picked for the low-profile tour.

Offspinner Parvez Rasool became the first player to be picked for a national squad from the northern state of Jammu and Kashmir, while pace bowler Mohit Sharma was the other new name in the 15-man squad for the five one-day internationals starting on July 24 in Harare.

Rasool has grabbed 46 wickets in 17 first-class games, 18 in 25 domestic one-day games and seven wickets in 12 Twenty20 games. The 24-year-old is also considered a useful batsman with a first-class average of over 38 with three centuries.

Haryana player Mohit has 44 wickets in 11 first-class games but has played few limited-overs games.

Seam bowler Jaydev Unadakt and batsmen Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane were the others drafted in along with Ambati Rayudu, Dhoni s replacement in the tri-series.
