Summary Sri Lankan government has demanded solid guarantee and proper security in advance for cricket team.
ISLAMABAD (Online): The hopes for revival of International cricket in the country are slim as Sri Lankan government has demanded solid guarantee and foolproof security plan in advance for the Sri Lankan Cricket team.
Pakistan, fighting against terrorism, had invited many international cricket teams including Bangladesh, India and South Africa but Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) remained unsuccessful to revive international cricket in the country.
International teams have stopped visiting Pakistan to play cricket since a terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore in March 2009. Though the Sri Lankan cricketers escaped the attack on their van, the incident was enough to discourage international teams from visiting Pakistan.
“After South Africa and Bangladesh now the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), who always having good relationship with Pakistan refuses to send their team to Pakistan till they are provided solid guarantee and foolproof security plan,” sources said adding that Sri Lankan government waiting for Pakistan to send them some solid proposals and then they will able to send the security team to Pakistan to view the current situation but no one send us the proposal or security plan, he claimed.
No country has been dented as much as Pakistan following the frequent refusal of some nations to play on its soil due to security concerns and it is the tragic episode in the history of Pakistan cricket
