WELLINGTON (AFP) - The second Test between New Zealand and England was declared a draw Monday after the final day s play at Wellington s Basin Reserve was abandoned due to persistent rain.
It is the second rain-affected draw in the three-Test series, setting up a potential decider in the final match beginning on Friday in Auckland.
Play did not get underway Monday after the weather also shortened proceedings Sunday, which ended with New Zealand at 162 for two in their second innings, trailing by 49 after the tourists enforced the follow-on.
Kane Williamson was unbeaten on 55 and Ross Taylor was 41 not out when the draw was declared.
It was the third successive Test draw at the Basin Reserve, after Pakistan in 2011 and South Africa last year.
