Former New Zealand cricket captain Martin Crowe, who was diagnosed this week with the cancer lymphoma, says he contracted the illness because his immune system was compromised by illnesses contracted while touring.In his first public statement on his illness, Crowe said he had been diagnosed with grade two lymphoma which was very treatable. Further tests were needed before a course of treatment was determined.The 50-year-old Crowe said on travels during my cricket career, suffering salmonella and glandular fever has compromised me. A weakened immune system over the last two decades is basically why I have become exposed to this sort of disease.
