Summary No political party will be permitted to hold a public gathering without the required authorisation, Sharjeel Inam Memon
KARACHI (Web Desk) — The Sindh government has reduced the official wheat price from Rs5,000 to Rs4,500 per maund, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced on Tuesday, saying the move is expected to bring down flour prices and provide relief to consumers.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Memon said the reduction in wheat prices would make flour around Rs17 per kilogram cheaper. He added that flour prices in the province were already showing a downward trend and that providing relief to the public remained a government priority.
The senior minister also announced that a committee had been formed to facilitate the regularisation of informal settlements through a one-window system.
On Karachi's traffic management, Memon said the city would be brought under a smart traffic management system. He warned that authorities would launch a strict crackdown on violations of traffic rules.
Commenting on political gatherings, he said all political parties would be required to obtain permission before holding public meetings.
Memon specifically warned the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) against holding a rally on Shahrah-e-Faisal, saying the government would not allow the party to organise a gathering there. He also referred to the events of May 12, saying the MQM-P would not be allowed to repeat them.
He reiterated that no political party would be permitted to hold a public gathering without the required authorisation.
