Summary Pakistan’s benchmark KSE-100 Index fell 1,549 points on Friday, closing at 162,374 amid a negative trading session at the Pakistan Stock Exchange.

KARACHI (Dunya News) — The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) ended Friday’s trading session in negative territory, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index shedding 1,549 points to close at 162,374.

The index recorded an intraday high of 163,966 points and a low of 162,292 points, reflecting downward pressure throughout the session.

Trading activity remained substantial, with 390 million shares changing hands at a total value of approximately Rs18 billion.

The decline pushed the benchmark index down from its previous closing level, as selling pressure weighed on market performance.

The index’s intraday range showed continued fluctuations, although it remained near its session low towards the close.

A fall in the benchmark index reflects a weaker overall performance among the shares included in the KSE-100. However, the index’s decline alone does not establish the underlying reason for the sell-off.

Investors typically assess corporate earnings, interest rate expectations, economic indicators, currency movements and domestic or international developments when making trading decisions.

Market direction in the coming sessions will depend on investor sentiment, economic signals and developments affecting listed companies. Further trading data and sector-wise performance would help determine whether Friday’s decline reflected broad-based selling or weakness concentrated in particular sectors.
