ISLAMABAD (Zeeshan Yousafzai) – Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik has departed for Saudi Arabia to attend the World Petroleum Congress, scheduled to take place from October 11 to 15, an official told Dunya News.

The visit comes amid disruptions in global energy supplies and uncertainty in international oil markets, prompting countries to focus on securing reliable supplies of petroleum products and gas.

The World Petroleum Congress will bring together energy ministers, policymakers and senior oil industry executives from around the world to discuss key developments, emerging challenges and the future of the global energy sector.

During his visit, Malik is expected to hold bilateral meetings with Saudi officials and other counterparts to discuss energy cooperation and Pakistan’s petroleum requirements, the official said.

Discussions are also expected to focus on arrangements to ensure adequate liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies for Pakistan during the upcoming winter season, when demand for gas typically rises.

Ensuring the availability of LNG and other petroleum products remains an important consideration for Pakistan as it prepares to meet domestic energy needs. Any supply constraints could add to the challenges of managing energy demand during the colder months.

The petroleum minister’s participation in the international gathering is expected to provide an opportunity to engage with key energy-sector stakeholders and discuss matters related to supply security and bilateral cooperation.

Pakistan has been seeking to maintain reliable supplies of petroleum products and natural gas amid fluctuations in international energy markets. The minister’s meetings in Saudi Arabia are expected to include discussions on addressing the country’s energy requirements and ensuring supplies ahead of the winter season.
