LAHORE (Web Desk) - Automakers have started reducing prices of hybrid vehicles following the reduction in general sales tax (GST) on cars from 25% to 18%, with manufacturers announcing cuts running into hundreds of thousands of rupees.
Honda Atlas Cars has reduced the price of the Honda HR-V e:HEV by Rs1.07 million, bringing it down from Rs10.369 million to Rs9.299 million.
The price of the HR-V VTi-S has also been reduced by Rs500,000, from Rs7.799 million to Rs7.299 million.
According to Honda, the revised prices will be available for a limited period and limited stock. The new prices will apply to orders invoiced on or after Sept. 25, 2026.
Indus Motor Company has also announced price reductions for Toyota hybrid models.
The Toyota Corolla Cross HEV X has received a Rs570,000 reduction, bringing its price to Rs9.729 million.
The price of the Toyota Corolla Cross HEV has been cut by Rs550,000 to Rs9.299 million.
The reductions come around two weeks after the government lowered GST on vehicles from 25% to 18%, with automakers subsequently revising prices.
According to an official at Chery Master, the reduction in GST on electric vehicles from 25% to 18% was expected to help revive demand.
The higher GST rate had contributed to a significant decline in demand, as many consumers postponed vehicle purchases while waiting for clarity on government taxation policy.
The latest price reductions are expected to provide some relief to buyers of hybrid and electric vehicles, although manufacturers have indicated that some revised prices may apply only to specific stock or for a limited period.
