ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan’s weekly inflation increased by 0.15%, pushing the annual inflation rate to 9.11%, according to the latest report released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
The PBS said prices of 20 essential commodities increased during the week, while nine items became cheaper and prices of 22 commodities remained unchanged.
According to the report, onion prices recorded the highest weekly increase, rising by 24.68%. The price of gram lentils increased by 3.35%, while chicken became 2.45% more expensive.
Prices of several other essential items, including yogurt, garlic and tea, also increased during the week.
Meanwhile, tomato prices declined by 1.26%. Petrol prices fell by 2.35%, while diesel became 0.29% cheaper.
The prices of sugar, eggs and potatoes also decreased during the week.
The latest figures indicate that food and other essential commodity prices continue to put pressure on household budgets despite declines in the prices of some key items.
