ISLAMABAD (Dunya News): The Ministry of Energy's Power Division has officially launched Pakistan's first National Power Sector Innovation Programme for young people, with more than Rs1 billion allocated for the initiative.
The Power Division said the programme aims to promote new research and technology in Pakistan's power sector.
An Innovation Hub will serve as the programme's dedicated digital platform, bringing together young people, researchers, universities, startups, industry representatives and experts.
The platform is intended to help develop innovative solutions to the energy challenges facing the country.
More than Rs1 billion has been allocated for successful projects over the next three years, with each successful young participant eligible to receive compensation of up to Rs500,000.
Federal Minister for Power Division Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari said the power sector needs not only greater effort but also creative thinking and continuous research from young people.
He described the National Power Sector Innovation Programme as more than a competition, calling it a permanent national institutional framework.
Leghari said the programme would provide mentorship, guidance and practical support to young participants and help turn promising research into viable projects.
Through the Innovation Hub's digital platform, aspiring students, researchers, startups and young professionals will be able to submit their ideas.
