ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) — The federal government has announced the withdrawal of fuel conservation and additional austerity measures, restoring several restrictions that were imposed as part of energy-saving efforts.

The Cabinet Division issued a notification ending the additional austerity measures implemented from March 9, 2026.

According to the notification, operating hours for markets, shops, shopping malls and bazaars will remain unchanged. General stores, department stores and other retail outlets will continue to close at 9:00 pm.

Wedding halls and other event venues will close at 10:00 pm, while restaurants, cafés and food outlets will be allowed to operate until 11:00 pm. Takeaway and home delivery services will remain exempt from these restrictions.

Medical stores, hospitals, laboratories and petrol pumps have been exempted from operating-hour limitations.

Meanwhile, the temporary reduction in speed limits on motorways and national highways has also been withdrawn.

The Motorway Police said the speed limit for cars on motorways has been restored to 120 kilometres per hour, while heavy vehicles and passenger buses can again travel at 110 kilometres per hour. Previous speed limits on national highways have also been reinstated.
