KARACHI (Dunya News) - Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry announced a major relief measure for exporters announcing 25% to 50% reduction in storage charges at Karachi port terminals.

Federal Minister said that the relief will also be applied to cargo containers stuck at ports, aiming to reduce financial pressure and support exports. He added that efforts are underway to resolve logistical issues and improve cargo clearance processes.

According to the minister, a 50% waiver in storage charges was applied at KGTL from March 1 to March 20. At KICT, a 50% discount was granted from March 1 to March 10, while a 25% reduction will apply at SAPT from March 11 to March 31.

He praised the efforts of Rear Admiral Shahid Ahmed, saying that the port system needs to be aligned with modern trade requirements.

The measures are aimed at reducing operational costs and strengthening Pakistan’s export sector.
