Summary Land acquisition to be fast-tracked
CHINIOT (APP) - In a significant step toward bolstering industrial growth, Punjab’s Secretary Mines and Minerals, Pervaiz Iqbal, visited Chiniot on Monday to review progress on land acquisition for a proposed steel mill project aimed at mining and processing the district’s rich iron ore reserves.
Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Ayesha Rizwan, the secretary chaired a high-level meeting with district officials and conducted a detailed inspection of the proposed project sites. Officials briefed the delegation on key components of the initiative, including the scale of iron ore deposits, planned mining techniques, establishment of processing facilities, and the land required for the project.
Describing the initiative as pivotal for the province’s industrial future, the secretary directed authorities to ensure that the land acquisition process is carried out in a transparent and expedited manner.
He emphasized that Chiniot’s vast iron ore reserves hold the potential to generate substantial local employment while reducing the country’s reliance on imported steel.
