ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The federal government is expected to increase the prices of petroleum products from March 1, 2026, following a surge in global crude oil rates, according to sources.

Officials indicated that petrol prices may go up by Rs5.13 per litre, potentially pushing the new price to Rs263.30 per litre. Similarly, high-speed diesel (HSD) is likely to witness a larger increase of Rs6.80 per litre, taking its expected price to Rs282.50 per litre.

The proposed adjustments are part of the government’s fortnightly price review mechanism, which revises domestic fuel prices in line with fluctuations in the international oil market and exchange rate movements.

Sources said the anticipated hike is primarily driven by rising crude oil prices in the global market, which have increased the import cost of refined petroleum products for Pakistan.

During the last fortnightly review, the government had raised the price of high-speed diesel to Rs275.70 per litre, while petrol was fixed at Rs258.17 per litre.

An official announcement regarding the revised prices is expected before midnight on February 29, after approval by the Ministry of Finance.
