ISLAMABAD: The World Bank has reaffirmed its support for Pakistan’s 10-year, $20 billion development program, highlighting the importance of effective implementation to maximize developmental impact.
The commitment was made during a meeting between Pakistan’s Federal Finance Minister Senator Mohammad Aurangzeb and World Bank Managing Director Ana Bjerde on the sidelines of the Annual AlUla Conference for Emerging Market Economies in Saudi Arabia.
The discussions focused on the Country Partnership Framework and Pakistan’s development priorities, including energy, education, health, climate change, and financial reforms.
Ana Bjerde emphasized the importance of efficient execution to ensure the program achieves maximum developmental outcomes.
Minister Aurangzeb reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to close collaboration with the World Bank and assured full cooperation through relevant federal ministries.
He also stressed the critical role of provincial governments in ensuring better coordination and timely implementation of the program.
The program aims to address key economic challenges while promoting sustainable growth and development, with a focus on improving infrastructure, human capital, and governance frameworks across Pakistan.
