LAHORE (Dunya News) – The three-day Made in Pakistan SME Cluster Showcase Expo 2026 today concluded at the Expo Centre Lahore with strong public participation and the formation of new business linkages, aligning with objectives set by the Ministry of Industries and Production.

Organised by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA), the event was held in line with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of inclusive and sustainable economic growth, focusing on strengthening micro, small and medium enterprises across the country.

The expo brought together a wide range of SMEs and MSMEs, offering them a platform to showcase locally manufactured products, exchange industry insights and connect with financial institutions and corporate partners. Visitors from across Lahore and beyond attended the exhibition, engaging directly with entrepreneurs and exploring Pakistan-made products across multiple sectors.

One of the key highlights on the final day was an inception workshop titled “Banana in Pakistan’s Bioeconomy: Transforming Waste into Textiles”, which explored innovative approaches to converting agricultural waste into value-added textile products. The session reflected the growing focus on sustainability and circular economy models within Pakistan’s SME landscape.

In her concluding remarks, SMEDA Chief Executive Officer Nadia Jahangir Seth described the flagship Made in Pakistan Cluster Showcase 2026 as a defining moment for the country’s MSMEs. She said the event provided an opportunity for innovative and enterprising businesses to display their products, gain visibility, exchange knowledge and develop business linkages aimed at scaling up operations and becoming export-ready.

She noted that the maiden edition of the expo was a clear reflection of the Government of Pakistan’s broader economic vision. According to Seth, it was particularly encouraging to see strong participation from young entrepreneurs, women-led businesses and microenterprises from across Pakistan, groups she described as forming the backbone of the national economy.

Seth commended all stakeholders involved in delivering the event, stating that SMEDA was entrusted with the responsibility and its team responded with a coordinated effort to ensure successful execution. She also acknowledged the role of event sponsors HBL, Bank Al Habib, Bank of Punjab and Pak Suzuki Motors, thanking them for their support and engagement with the public during the exhibition.

The SMEDA chief confirmed that the SME Cluster Showcase will become an annual feature, with follow-up activities planned to convert commitments and key takeaways from the expo into tangible business growth for participating MSMEs.
