ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Businessman Arif Habib has indicated plans to create more jobs and increase the number of aircraft after acquiring Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
In an interview with the media, Arif Habib said, “I believe today is a victory for Pakistan, Alhamdulillah! This will encourage investment in the country. PIA is our national institution, and it has seen better days. It was once among the top airlines in the world.”
He praised PIA’s workforce, calling them “highly capable,” and revealed details about the airline’s current fleet. The airline presently has 18 aircraft, 14 of which are operational. Arif Habib added that the fleet may be expanded further depending on demand, emphasizing that the airline’s staff will be empowered and their skills fully utilized. “We will continue to rely on the services of PIA’s experienced professionals,” he said. He also hinted at potential collaboration with the Fauji Fertilizer Group to support growth plans.
