Pakistan has made another significant oil and gas discovery in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Nashpa Block, with production expected to strengthen the country’s energy supply
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan has hit the jackpot with the discovery of another oil and gas reserve, marking a major boost for the country’s energy sector.
The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has made a major oil and gas discovery in the Nashpa Block of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to officials, the discovery was made at the Braghzai X-1 well, which is expected to produce around 2,280 barrels of oil per day.
OGDCL officials said the well would also produce about 5.6 million cubic feet of gas per day, adding valuable supplies to the national energy mix.
They described it as the first hydrocarbon discovery from the Kingriali Formation in the Nashpa Block, calling it a milestone for exploration in the area.
Officials further said that drilling at the well has been completed at a depth of 5,170 meters, marking the successful completion of a challenging operation.
The discovery is being seen as a step in the right direction and a ray of hope for reducing the country’s reliance on imported energy in the days ahead.
