The government has started receiving carbon surcharge from today. According to the ministry of petroleum spokesman, the government is expected to receive additional revenue of Rs 100 billion through carbon surcharge. The government had announced to abolish PDL and imposed carbon surcharge in the budget through which it would receive carbon surcharge of Rs 10 from 1 litre of petrol, Rs 8 from Hi-Speed diesel, Rs 6 from kerosene oil, Rs 3 from light diesel and Rs 14 from Hi-Octane. Ex-factory price of the petrol is Rs 31.91 per litre, transportation charges Rs 2.88 per litre dealers commission Rs 1.71 and oil marketing companies commission is Rs 1.39, making accumulative expenses to Rs 37.92 per litre. Government is receiving Rs 18.29 through various other taxes.
