Urea fertilizer sale mounted to 2.4 million metric ton with an increase of 7 percent during last five months. According to a report by global research, government imported 475 thousand metric ton urea fertilizer, up 4 percent as compared to last year. Local production decreased by 1 percent as plant of Engro was closed for annual maintenance, causing import to grow up. Demand for urea is expected to increase as BT cotton farming increases. Sale of DAP witnessed a massive increase of 66 percent and amounted to 35000 metric ton. Local production of DAP also increased by 49 percent causing import to go down by 69 percent.
