LAHORE (Dunya News) - Transport fares in Punjab have been reduced by 30 to 70 rupees following changes in petroleum product prices.

Provincial Minister for Information Azma Bukhari announced that the fare reductions were in celebration of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH).

She stated that the adjustments were made in response to the decrease in petroleum prices.

Bukhari criticised opposition figures, stating that whenever fuel prices dropped, Maryam Nawaz and her team became active in ensuring transport fare reductions. She stated that this process was not seen in other provinces after fuel price fall.

She emphasised that Punjab was the only province where passengers were refunded excess fares, in line with directives from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

District administration teams were monitoring bus stations to ensure adherence to the new fares.

Bukhari also highlighted that Maryam Nawaz has instructed strict measures against those overcharging passengers, stressing that passing-on fuel price relief to passengers was a key responsibility.

She urged all transport operators to cooperate with the government and confirmed that Maryam Nawaz was personally overseeing the fare reduction process.
